Synopsis:
Based on the hit manga by Tomoko Ninomiya, this is a fun-filled quirky romantic comedy of 2 very opposite people. Megumi Noda, or “Nodame” is a piano student at Momogaoka College of Music. An extremely talented pianist whose aspiration is to be a kindergarten teacher, she prefers playing by ear rather than reading the music score, since she likes deviating and composing from the original score. She is messy, dirty and disorganized, washes her hair every 3 days, lives in a room filled with garbage and spoilt food, and loves to eat, always stealing her friend’s lunchbox, and going to anywhere or anyone who will feed her. Shinichi Chiaki, is Momogaoka’s top student in the piano division. Born into a musical family, he is talented in the piano and violin, and has secret ambitions to become a conductor. An arrogant multi-lingual perfectionist who once lived abroad in the music capitals of the world as a young boy, he feels mired in Japan because of a childhood phobia of travelling by air and sea, which prevents him from going overseas to pursue music.

Although they live beside each other, they have not met until one day when Chiaki sits outside his door, drunk, and Nodame brings him into her apartment. Nodame quickly falls in love, but it takes much longer for Chiaki to even begin to appreciate Nodame’s unusual qualities. Their relationship causes them both to develop and grow. With the help of Nodame, Chiaki manages to transfer to the Conducting Division, lead a student orchestra and begins to have a broader appreciation of people's musical abilities. With her love for Chiaki, Nodame decides to pursue music instead of being a kindergarten teacher and enters a piano competition to be able to match his standards. Opportunities open up as both of them begin taking risks, stretching themselves far more than they ever thought possible.
